The PASGT spherical helmet is designed for civilian and military use and is manufactured in Europe. It is well-known among the US military and popular among journalists, which is why it is often called the "journalist helmet". This can be explained by its light weight — only 1.24 kg, making it one of the lightest on the market.
The helmet provides comfort when worn and has a low cut, which provides maximum protection against fragments and bullets. It stops .44 Magnum and .357 SIG bullets according to the NIJ 0101.06 standard, and has also passed the V50 test according to STANAG 2920 for resistance to fragments at speeds up to 660 m/s.
The helmet's design reduces the depth of deformation by up to 50%, compared to standard military helmets, which have an impact zone of 130 mm. In the PASGT helmet, the impact zone is only 75 mm, which significantly increases the chances of survival if hit.
The helmet is coated with polyurethane paint, which protects it from water and liquids, while maintaining ballistic properties. For comfort, it is equipped with PGD-10 padding and an adjustable PGD-BOA Fit system.
