The level of protection, the presence of a rangefinder scale and a compass with backlight allow this model to be used as marine or army binoculars.
Opticron Marine-2 7x50 / IC WP has enlarged prism assemblies, where large rotating prisms are fixed in a special way, which prevents their displacement during impacts. The solid cast aluminum housing and thick rubber coating guarantee the reliability of the entire structure as a whole. The sealing of all lenses with rubber O-rings and additional sealing of the housing provide a high level of water protection, which allows even short-term immersion of the binoculars in water without any damage to the device. Filling from the inside with dry nitrogen guarantees the absence of internal condensation (fogging of the optics from the inside) during a sharp temperature drop.
The left optical channel houses a rangefinder grid and a large 30 mm compass scale with backlight. Using the compass, you can determine the direction and azimuth. The compass is adapted for accurate operation in the Northern Hemisphere (exactly where Ukraine is located). The compass backlight works by pressing and holding the button in the upper part of the binoculars. The rangefinder grid has a division value of 5 mil and will help you calculate the distance to the object, knowing its approximate dimensions, or determine the dimensions of the object, knowing the distance to it. Like the vast majority of marine and army binoculars with a grid, this model has a separate focusing mechanism on each eyepiece. This design solution helps to increase the level of protection against moisture, and most importantly, quickly focus on the grid for measuring the distance without losing the clarity of the image of the observation object. In order to fully realize the potential of the rangefinder grid and the separate focusing system, the optical scheme of the Marine-2 7x50 / IC WP binoculars has a large depth of field, which allows you to see the rangefinder grid and the object itself almost equally clearly at a distance of 50 meters, which greatly facilitates and speeds up work with these binoculars.
The combination of seven-fold magnification and a 50-mm lens diameter allows you to get the maximum necessary light output for observations at dusk. No other binoculars can provide greater effective aperture characteristics. In addition, the minimum magnification contributes to image stability, which is extremely important not only when observing from the side of a ship, but also during field observations and measuring distances to distant objects. Full multi-illumination of optical surfaces and the use of BAK4 optical glass in the manufacture of prisms guarantee the brightest and clearest image.
