Vanguard was the first to introduce binoculars to the market in a lightweight and ultra-strong carbon composite body, decorated with a premium rubber protective coating Mitsubishi Rubber Armor (the same as used to finish the interior details of Mitsubishi sports cars). The objective lenses are made of low-dispersion ED glass and glued together with the best Norland adhesives to date, which are distinguished by maximum transparency and uniformity. All optical surfaces have a full multilayer broadband anti-reflective coating Advanced MultiGuard® Coatings. The BAK4 optical glass prisms are coated with a phase-correcting coating, and a highly reflective silver coating V-Max. All these improvements are designed to reduce chromatic aberration and ensure the transmission of bright and accurate colors in high resolution.

As is customary at Vanguard, special attention was paid to the quality of the binoculars' accessories: the basic package includes lens caps that are attached to the body with straps, a neoprene bag for storage and transportation, as well as a comfortable wide neoprene strap.

ED Glass. Extra low dispersion glass is used in lenses of premium optical devices and is designed to correct chromatic aberration (color distortion) that occurs due to light scattering when light passes through a lens system. The refractive index of low dispersion glass is insignificant, all waves of the light spectrum passing through ED glass are refracted at the same angle. Due to this property, low dispersion glass practically does not scatter light, maintaining high image resolution and correct color rendition.

Advanced MultiGuard® Coatings. Seven layers of the most technologically advanced broadband anti-reflective coating are applied to each optical surface. The coating provides a uniformly high level of light transmission of the optical system and unsurpassed natural color reproduction in almost the entire visible range (from 320 nm to 680 nm). Additionally, a super-strong hydrophobic membrane is applied to the outer surface of the lenses and glasses, which protects against scratches, prevents water accumulation on the lenses and contamination with oils.

BAK4 Prism. Significant light losses in a rotating prism system occur regardless of its design. The use of BAK4 optical glass (barite crown) with a higher refractive index allows you to minimize light losses and largely avoid vignetting (darkening of the image due to cutting the light beam at the periphery of the eyepiece lenses).

P2 Phase Correction. The use of multilayer phase-correcting coating of prisms is today the standard for high-quality binoculars with a rotating Roof prism design. When passing through such a prism system, light is reflected from opposite sides of the prism, polarized, and a shift of half the phase of the light wave occurs, which entails a loss of contrast. The thinnest phase-correcting coating applied to one of the prism surfaces combines the phases, providing high resolution and contrast of the image.

V-Max Silver Coating. Multilayer highly reflective coating is used exclusively in optical devices with a rotating Roof prism design of the Schmidt-Pehan system. One of the surfaces of the Roof prism system does not have total internal reflection. It is on this surface that a reflective coating must be applied. The silver coating V-Max, unlike aluminum, reflects up to 98% of light in the entire visible range and provides high light transmission, natural color rendition, and is used exclusively in premium optics.

Waterproof & fogproof. These binoculars have an IPX7 water resistance rating and are also protected from internal condensation. The housing is sealed with a rubber O-ring, which allows the binoculars to be submerged for up to 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter without letting moisture in. From the internal volume of the housing, the air and water vapor contained in it are displaced by nitrogen N2, which does not form condensate on the internal surfaces of the optics during a sharp temperature drop.

Outstanding near focus. Most users use binoculars only to observe distant objects. But not everyone knows that the best binoculars provide significant opportunities for macro observations. The minimum focusing distance (focus limit) of this model is only 2.0 meters, which allows you to view flowers and insects in their real habitat. Binoculars with a minimum focusing distance of 2.0 meters are premium optical instruments.

Carbon Fiber Composite Body. Vanguard became the first manufacturer to use composite carbon fiber in the mass production of optical instruments. The PA66 + 40CF material consists of 40% of the finest fibers (up to 7 microns) of reinforcing carbon fiber and 60% of the PA66 polyamide binder, which is one of the strongest and most stable polymers used in composite materials. According to laboratory studies, the PA66 + 40CF carbon fiber composite, at the same density, is 271% stronger than polycarbonate (a material traditionally used for the production of optical instrument housings), and is also 2 times lighter and 20% stronger than aluminum.

Right locking diopter. Each user usually uses the diopter correction mechanism only once when adjusting the binoculars to the characteristics of their vision. However, each time, when extending the eyeglass frames, there is a possibility of shifting the settings and losing image sharpness. The diopter adjustment lock on the right eyepiece prevents accidental adjustment. Thus, during the next use, the binoculars will require a minimum of adjustments, and you will not miss any important details during observations.

3 Stage Eyecups. Properly designed eyeglass frames not only increase comfort during prolonged observations, but, first of all, allow users with different eye anatomy and users wearing glasses to use binoculars with equal ease. These binoculars use fairly soft retractable Twist-Up eyeglass frames with 3 levels of fixation.

Tripod mountable. Despite the fact that in most cases observations are carried out with binoculars in hand, there are situations when mounting on a tripod is simply necessary. High magnification, long-term observation, or shooting on a smartphone camera using binoculars require the stability of the optical device. This model has a tripod adapter thread located under the cap in the hinge.
