Being more compact and lighter than similar models from competitors, the Opticron Explorer WA ED-R 10x42 WP monocular also has outstanding optical characteristics. The wide-angle eyepiece provides a large field of view at the level of the best examples of optics, and the minimum focusing distance starts from 1.8 meters, which allows you to observe objects that are literally under your feet.
Low dispersion ED glass with a proprietary broadband illuminating coating in red tones R-type guarantees image brightness, accurate color reproduction throughout the visible spectrum, and virtually no color distortion. As befits premium optics, the rotating prism is made of BAK4 optical glass and has a phase-correcting and dielectric reflective coating of the surfaces.
The dielectric coating of the prism Oasis-C+ Prism Coating — is a proprietary 64-layer coating that is applied to the reflective surface of each Roof prism. Compared to cheaper silver coating (Ag coating), or budget aluminum coating (Al coating), it provides more than 99% reflection of light from the surface in a wider spectrum, which provides a noticeable increase in brightness and clarity. In turn, the phase-correcting coating aligns the phases of all light waves passing through the prisms and prevents image blurring.
The assembly of the Explorer WA ED-R 10x42 WP monocular, as is customary for all Opticron optical devices, is carried out at a high level, ensuring smooth movement of the focuser and a complete absence of backlash. The monocular is sealed according to the IPX7 class, which allows it to be underwater at a depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes without any damage to the optics, and the device is also filled with inert nitrogen from the inside, which eliminates internal fogging and condensation during sudden temperature changes.
The lens and eyepiece covers are made of soft rubber and fit snugly, in addition, the lens cover is attached to the body with a rubber strap, which prevents its loss and allows you to use the monocular quickly and effectively. The soft neck strap is made of neoprene - a dense and soft hypoallergenic material that does not absorb moisture and is wear-resistant.
