Monocular Vanguard VEO ED 8x42 WP (VEO ED 8420M)

Vanguard VEO ED 8x42 WP is a fresh take on the design and functionality of a monocular, breaking stereotypes about a monocular as an auxiliary optical device for secondary tasks. The quality of low-dispersion ED optics is such that it allows you to use the Vanguard VEO ED 8x42 WP monocular as a smartphone lens, and obtain high-resolution images of distant objects with 8x optical magnification. Especially for these tasks, the monocular is equipped with a smartphone adapter, a remote control for the smartphone camera with a Bluetooth interface, and the possibility of mounting the monocular on a tripod is also provided.

Vanguard was the first to introduce monoculars to the market in a lightweight and ultra-strong composite carbon body, protected by a premium rubber coating Mitsubishi Rubber Armor (similar to that used to finish interior parts of Mitsubishi sports cars).

Great attention has been paid to optics, starting from lens materials and ending with special coatings. The multi-component lens is made of extra low dispersion ED glass, and the glasses are glued together with the best adhesive glues Norland today, which are distinguished by maximum transparency and uniformity. The lens and eyepiece have a full multi-layer broadband anti-reflective coating. The BAK4 prism also has an anti-reflective coating.

In addition to waterproofness and reliable protection against impacts, the Vanguard VEO ED 8x42 WP is protected from the formation of internal condensation, as well as from scratches on the optics and the accumulation of water, oils and dirt on the surface of the lenses. All these features allow you to use the monocular not only for bird watching and landscape photography, but also for hunting. This is an all-weather multifunctional monocular that will definitely not let you down in the most extreme conditions.

ED Glass. Extra low dispersion glass is used in the lenses of premium optical devices and is designed to correct chromatic aberration (color distortion) that occurs due to light scattering when the light flux passes through the lens system. The refractive index of light with low dispersion glass is insignificant, all waves of the light spectrum that pass through ED glass are refracted at the same angle. Due to this property, low-dispersion glasses practically do not scatter light, maintaining high image resolution and correct color reproduction.

MultiGuard® Coatings. Four layers of high-quality broadband anti-reflective coating are applied to each optical surface. The coating provides a uniformly high level of light transmission of the optical system and unsurpassed natural color reproduction in almost the entire visible range (from 320 nm to 680 nm). Additionally, a super-strong hydrophobic membrane is applied to the outer surface of the objective and eyepiece, which protects against scratches, prevents water accumulation on the lenses and contamination with oils.

BAK4 Prism. Significant light losses in a rotating prism system occur regardless of its design. The use of BAK4 optical glass (barite crown) with a higher refractive index minimizes light loss and largely avoids vignetting (darkening of the image due to cutting of the light beam at the periphery of the eyepiece lenses).

Waterproof & fogproof. This monocular has an IPX7 moisture protection class and is also protected from the formation of internal condensation. The body is sealed with a rubber sealing O-ring, which allows the monocular to be under water for up to 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter, without letting moisture inside. From the internal volume of the housing, the air and water vapor contained in it are displaced by nitrogen N2, which does not form condensate on the internal surfaces of the optics during a sharp temperature drop.

Outstanding near focus. Most users use monoculars only to observe distant objects. But not everyone knows that the best examples of monoculars provide significant opportunities for macro observations. The minimum focusing distance (focus limit) of this model is only 2.5 meters, which allows you to view flowers and insects in their real habitat. Monoculars with a minimum focusing distance of up to 2.5 meters are premium optical devices.

Carbon Fiber Composite Body. Vanguard became the first manufacturer to use composite carbon fiber in the mass production of optical devices. The PA66 + 40CF material consists of 40% of the thinnest fibers (up to 7 microns) of reinforcing carbon fiber and 60% of the PA66 polyamide binder, which is one of the strongest and most stable polymers used in composite materials. According to laboratory studies, the PA66 + 40CF carbon fiber composite, at the same density, is 271% stronger than polycarbonate (a material traditionally used for the production of optical instrument housings), and is also 2 times lighter and 20% stronger than aluminum.

3 Stage Eyecups. Properly designed eyeglass frames not only increase comfort during prolonged observations, but, first of all, allow users with different eye anatomy, as well as users wearing glasses, to use the monocular with equal convenience. This monocular uses a retractable Twist-Up eyepiece frame with 3 levels of fixation.

Tripod mountable. Despite the fact that in most cases observations are carried out with the monocular in your hands, there are situations when mounting on a tripod is simply necessary. High magnification, observations for a long time, or shooting on a smartphone camera using a monocular require the stability of the optical device.
