An occlusive dressing is a device designed to seal an open chest wound and minimize the risk of pneumothorax, a leading cause of death on the battlefield. This dressing maintains a static position during decompression of a tension pneumothorax and provides an effective channel for the release of blood and air. The Sentinel Chest Seal's patented design minimizes obstruction of the ventilation channel, ensuring the simultaneous release of blood and air. Sentinel's full adhesive coating adheres to the wound site and stays in place under all conditions, and its transparent design allows for good visualization of the wound. At the same time, these characteristics reduce the need for multiple seals and reduce the risk of pneumothorax, a leading cause of preventable death on the battlefield.
